Blog 10: English Language Challenges

English Language Challenges

Hello! In this new blog I will talk about the challenges of the English subject in the university.

Well, English has always been difficult for me, especially being able to speak English fluently, but I can understand a little of the language when I listen to songs in English or when I read sentences and short paragraphs.

My experience at the university has been good.  However, it’s the first time that I have had to write blogs as part of a subject, and especially if it’s in English!!

The most difficult for the realization of the blogs were some of the topics that they gave, since it seldom occurred to me that I could write about the issue delivered.

Personally I feel that I have to improve everything, because it’s difficult for me to speak fluently, to write without having any kind of help that corrects my mistakes, the "listening", because despite the fact that I listen to certain music in English, in certain occasions I don’t know what the song is saying.
My family has recommended me that in order to improve these skills, it’s best to go to a country where the language is spoken, to make it "simple" to learn it or simply to force oneself to learn the language to "survive" in a new country, away from the family.

But at the moment, I feel that to improve these skills I should listen to music in English, watch movies with English subtitles, read a book in English, etc.

In recent days, I've only heard music in English practically every day, since I'm listening to it on the bus when I come to school and then when I return home.

Blog 9: Changes to my Study Programme

Changes to my Study Programme

Hello everyone! In this blog I will talk about the changes to my study programme.
To be honest I wouldn’t make big changes in the study program as such, because as it is stipulated, I find it very comfortable.

The workload for the Biochemistry career, which is what I am studying in the faculty, I find that it is well "organized" in the eleven semesters, corresponding to the duration of career, because in the first years, it is where there are more subjects, because are the branches of less complexity and as the difficulty of the career increases, the number of subjects per semester is decreasing.

Regarding the infrastructure of the faculty, I think it is comfortable, there are places to study, for food and to rest a moment. The classrooms are nice for the realization of the classes, except for a few classrooms that have tables a little uncomfortable :c

In terms of technology, each classroom has a projector for the realization of the class, although some teachers who prefer to use the blackboard for their class. There are also rooms with computers for students to do works in the faculty, to find information or other purposes. In addition to having the printing and photocopying service.

The other thing that pleases me is the teaching methods of some teachers, where some have didactic techniques so that students can learn the concepts in an entertaining way.

Considering the factors described above, I think that my study program doesn’t require major changes.

Blog 8: Summer Holidays

Summer Holidays

Hello, in this new blog I will talk about my summer holidays Well, this year's holidays were the most fun for me.

First I went to the beach with my friends. We went for a one week to the summer house of one of them, we had a great time and we slept practically at dawn.

After I went to Algarrobo with my boyfriend, we also went for a full week. Even though we went for a few days, we took advantage of traveling a lot.

I remember that one day we went for a walk on the beach and ended up walking all over the coastal edge! Where we were talking and joking, time passed very quickly. We walked about 8 kilometre walking!

This was undoubtedly, this summer that I eat very much!, because in addition to the "nutritious" lunches we ate, at night we used to cook many french fries, to be eating them while playing MONOPOLY, watch movies or both at the same time .

However I would like to go to other regions of Chile. From the south of Chile I would like to know Puerto Montt, Frutillar, Chiloé, Temuco and also I would like to visit more of Pucón, Puerto Varas, Osorno and Valdivia, since when I went to "Tour of Studies" I traveled very little these last places.

To make such trips I would like to go with my family and my boyfriend. It could also be with a friend, but it would be more difficult to make a trip to the south with a friend, because she also wants to share with her family.

Blog 7: Pets

Blog 7: Pets

Hello again! In this new blog I will talk about pets. Well, I don’t have pets, but I would like it to be a dog. However, my mom wouldn’t let me have one because I live in an apartment and as we both spent many hours away from home, the puppy would spend most of the day locked, which is not the idea and also that it would not have a wide place to play and to run.

What I would like to have a dog as a pet is that the dogs are very playful, affectionate and very tender, which I love very much!!

The truth is that I have never thought of a name for a pet, I think it will occur to the moment I have my pet.

What I like most about dogs is that they are very playful and tender, because I want to have a pet with which I can play and take a walk. Besides that it should be fun to try to bathe them. When I was a child, I watched as my cousin bathed her dog and it always escaped and left it drenched with water, which was great fun.

However, I would like to have more than one dog if I can or besides to having a dog have another type of pet, such as a hamster or a rabbit.

Blog 6: Postgraduate Studies

Blog 6: Postgraduate Studies

Hi again! In today's blog I will talk about postgraduate studies. Well, I have planned to do Master's studies in Chile and after to do a Doctorate abroad.

I would like to do two Masters in Chile, the first would be the Master in Biochemistry, which is carry out  in this faculty and another Master in Neuroscience, which is taught in the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Chile.

Why these two masters? Because I find it amazing to be able to know even more about the nervous system and its components and also, as I am studying Biochemistry, I would like to do postgraduate studies on the career that I chose.

About the PhD, I don’t specifically know which area of Biochemistry, but I just want to do my PhD in England or in the USA, ideally I would like to do this postgraduate studies in England, Cambridge.

Going back to the topic of the Magister, when I am doing it, I prefer that the class schedules are compatible with my job, because I plan to work to be able to finance my studies, in case I don’t achieve any benefits to be able to finance it.
Well, those are the plans that I have thought to carry out my postgraduate studies.

Thanks for reading my blog c:

Blog 5: My Future Job

Blog 5: My Future Job

Hello again! In this new blog, I will talk about my future job. The truth is that I haven’t thought much about my future job, but I had someone ideas about the theme.

Firstly I would like to work in a laboratory, I am not clear in what area I want to work, but I would like to carry out research or to analyze in more depth the nervous system and microorganisms.

I am more interested working in neuroscience, because I feel that there is still much to discover at the level of the nervous system or I would like to be able contribute even more to someone pathologies that affect this part of the human body, such as Parkinson's and Alzheimer's diseases.

I don’t  know if I would like to travel too much for my work, because I also plan to form my family and I know that children need some stability. Regarding the salary, I am satisfied that I live quiet.

I want to do in the future is do postgraduate studies abroad, in Cambridge specifically, to be perfecting the career that I decided to study: Biochemistry.

The only thing I want from my future job is to be something that I like very much  and that I don’t dislike my job

Blog 4: Thematic Post - National Holidays (September 18th)

Thematic Post - National Holidays (September 18th)

Well, in these national holidays I didn’t do many activities, I dedicated to rest, to share with my family, I went to the cinema with my boyfriend and I tried to study, for advance with someone subjects. But, to be honest, I wasn’t progress very much with studied, because I started to share with my family.

For example, watching movies on the computer, going out to the mall with my mom and my boyfriend, leaving the park near of my house and on September 19th saw the military parade with my mom.

I rarely see the military parade, because I'm a bit bored by the fact that it is a bit extensive. But this parade in particular, there was something that I loved very much and was the presentation of the Canine School.

This presentation fascinated me for two reasons, the first because I love animals, especially dogs and the second reason is because paraded the puppies of police, which I found very tender. I have always liked puppies, because they are playful when they are small and because of the curiosity they have.

Besides that, I didn’t do anything "extraordinary", just rest and enjoy the moments that I had with my family.

Blog 3: My favourite Movie

My favourite Movie

Hi again!!, in this new blog, I will talk about my favourite movie. I refer the saga of Pirates of the Caribbean, but I will focus only on the movie: Pirates of the Caribbean 5: Dead Men Tell No Tales. This film was directed by Joachim Ronning and Espen Sandberg

In this installment, Johnny Depp returns as the iconic Jack Sparrow. In this new adventure of Sparrow, Captain Jack is abandoned to his fate, feeling the winds of bad fortune blowing heavily when the mortal ghost sailors, guide by the terrifying Captain Salazar (Javier Bardem), escape from the Triangle of the Devil, ready to kill to all the pirates in the sea, especially to Jack. Sparrow's only hope for survival is to find Poseidon's legendary Trident, but to find it, he must forge an awkward alliance with Carina Smyth (Kaya Scodelario), a brilliant astronomer, and Henry (Brenton Thwaites), a young, headstrong sailor in the Navy Real.

In addition, the cast of the film includes Geoffrey Rush (Captain Barbossa) , Kevin McNally (Joshamee Gibbs) and the return of Orlando Bloom (Will Turner) and Keira Knightley (Elizabeth Swann).

Of the five films Pirate of the Caribbean, I don’t have a favourite movie in specific, but I consider that this is my favourite saga because I find it entertaining, with adventures, also the characters of Jack Sparrow and Hector Barbossa are my favorites.

Blog 2: The best Holidays.

The best Holidays.

Hello again! In this new blog I will talk about my best holidays. It was when I was 9 years old, I went to Buenos Aires, Argentina. I travel with my mom, my uncles and my cousins. From what I remember we remained a week in Buenos Aires, touring places like Caminito and Recoleta.

I also remember that we were always touring, like the zoo, museums, parks, the river of silver, the obelisk and the planetarium.
When we went to Caminito, I remember that there were many couples dancing the typical dance of Argentina: the Tango.

When the trip was almost over, my mother decided we should go family to the planetarium and the zoo. Of the planetarium what I liked most of this place it was the ducks, which were in a small lagoon to one side of the planetarium. Is curious, but where I was very small it was more entertaining to feed the ducks of the lagoon than to be inside the planetarium.

And what I liked the zoo was that some animals were free, and those who were more dangerous have them in cages, then one could caress the animals and feed them.

Despite having been very small, I have always felt that it was the best vacation, because it was an opportunity where we could travel and know a new country with family.

Blog 1: A Country I Would Like To Visit.

A Country I Would Like To Visit.

Hello! In this blog I want to speak about the country that I would like to visit. Since I was in school I dreamed of traveling abroad, especially England. Basically, I would like to travel to know its culture and attractions, as well as improving the command of English. But the most important reason why I would like to go to England is the realization of a doctorate in Cambridge.

I would like to study in that University, because of the prestige it has at the international level and also to be able to carry out research related to my career or participate in some research line.

I don’t know if I would like to stay there, because my family, specifically my cousins, have told me that life in England is very expensive and that the English are also very competitive. At the moment I would just love to go for doctoral studies or others.

I would also like to travel and know the surroundings of England, to discover other cultures and how they changed their traditions to reach what they are today.

My Blog Experience

My Blog Experience:

Well, to be honest, I thought it was boring do this type of activity in English because when I listened to comments from my classmate about blogs, they were always complaining. Then I thought I was going to get bored a lot doing blogs, besides that I'm not very creative to write. But I had a lot of fun writing about a topic and then reading different experiences from my classmate about the same thing.

I am left with the feeling that I can develop a little more writing skills in English, which is one of the weakest skills I have, which motivates me to continue to improve because my family always tells me that it is very important to learn another Language like English, to have more opportunities in life.

In addition, in the future I would like to practice all English skills in parallel, whether with films, read an article about the career that was chosen, perform small plays, among other recreational activities, to make learning more entertaining.

Well, to say goodbye to this blog semester, I would like to express that I felt comfortable writing, because it is a didactic way of sharing anecdotes or experiences that help us to be better people c: In addition to putting a little creativity and dynamism to the stories.

My favourite subject this semester

My favourite subject this semester

Hello again! In this blog I will talk about the subject  that I liked the most this semester. Well it really is more than one, but I'll choose the Organic Chemistry. Although I didn’t do very well in tests, it's my favourite subject of the six subject I chose this semester.

This course is carried out by three teachers together: Carolina Jullian, Jacqueline Pezoa and Patricio Navarrete. In the classes, I enjoyed the most were those of Miss Pezoa and Mister Navarrete. Both do their classes in a very didactic, especially Mister Navarrete, he always put a little humor to their classes, making the way to learn the contents outside in a more fun.

In Organic we saw Nomenclature of Organic Compounds, Stereochemistry, Nucleophilic Substitution and Eliminations, the main reactions and synthesis of Alkanes, Alkenes and Aromatics and what we were seeing a couple of days ago, Infrared Spectroscopy (IR) and Proton Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy (‘H RMN).

In general I have always liked the branches of biology and chemistry, and despite having a subject of Cellular Physiology, the one that I liked the most was Organic, because the contents are entertaining, especially the reactions of Aromatic Compounds. However, like all courses, Organic also has some degree of complexity, but you just have to look for the way that the study is more entertaining and not something tedious.

An expert on Biochemistry

An expert on Biochemistry

Hello again!!, In this day I will talk about an expert in Biochemistry: Ramon Latorre.
Ramon Latorre was born in October 29, 1941
He studied in the Jose Victorino Lastarria High School. Subsequently, in 1965 he received a Biochemist in the School of Chemistry and Pharmacy of the University of Chile.
In 1969 he received a doctorate in Sciences with a mention in Biology at the University of Chile, being one of the first students of this career.
His most important research work was the discovery of ion channels in cell membranes in muscle cells, which allow the entry and exit of ions of the cell, giving greater emphasis to the membranes that regulate the entry of Calcium.
In addition, to making an important discovery, it has generated a great international recognition, even was awarded the National Prize for Natural Sciences in 2002.

What I like most about the work he does in the field of Biochemistry is the important contribution that his work gives, because thanks to these research, it is possible to better understand how an organism as small as the cell, allows us to perform Our daily activities without major difficulties, besides keeping us alive.

Anime

Anime

Well, to be honest I don’t see anime or read the "mangas". The truth is that when I was child I saw several animes, but as the years passed and I started to like another type of animated series, displacing the anime.
However, I always had friends who loved the anime, and when they talked about it, always remained like "what they're talking about", including, me with another friend, who hadn’t seen them, we asked them in a good way because they talked so much about the series they saw, because when they talked about this, we just watched their expressions and listening to their conversation xD.
Besides, I don´t like to see many series, because sometimes, because of lack of time, I cannot carry the continuity of the series, and there are always people who spoilers .-. which I detest and I "disappoint" to continue watching the serie, because it isn´t  the same to live the emotion when one see the series to another person to tell me what has happened.

Finally, my boyfriend is fascinated by an anime series, Shingeki no Kyojin, and he always comments me the chapters he sees and so that i am not very "disoriented" in the conversation, he tells me what the story is about, so that I can understand a little more the situations he tells me.

My Favourite Picture

My Favourite Picture

Well my favorite picture was taken in 2016. In it I appear with my boyfriend. This photo I took in the “Quimifonda” of the Faculty, performed in September of that year with the purpose of the celebration of National holidays. This image I like very much because I remember how well I spended that day, the many things we ate, the anecdotes that occurred to us, the many laps we gave by the faculty looking for the 2 liters of "terromoto" that had Offered, yes 2 LITERS !!!
The most fun thing is that we only take 1 liter between us, because when each carried half a liter of “earthquake” consumed, we started to get dizzy xD I don’t know if it would have been because I have almost no resistance to alcohol or the “earthquake” had "malice".

Fortunately, the effect didn’t last long, and once we felt better, we decided to return to our homes to be able to rest and also so that nothing happened to us on the way to our homes.

PS:I hate my dream face in that picture !!

My Favourite Trip

My Favourite Trip:

Well, my favorite trip was this summer. I went to Algarrobo, with my boyfriend 💓.  In the few days that we were on the beach, we made the most of them. We spent most of the day outside the house.

I remember that one day we went for a walk on the beach and ended up walking all over the coastal edge! Where we were talking and joking, time passed very quickly. We walked about 8 kilometre walking!

Also, one day, we happened to go to San Antonio in a bus, but it turned out to be a very bad idea :c on the round trips we encountered a lot of vehicular congestion, so we spent more time on the “tacos” than traveling the place. The good thing is that being there, we could eat very much xD.

This was undoubtedly, this summer that I eat very much!, because in addition to the "nutritious" lunches we ate, at night we used to cook many french fries 🍟🍟🍟, to be eating them while playing MONOPOLY, watch movies or both at the same time .

Anyway, I would definitely like to repeat this experience and be able to travel around other places in Chile or the world.
